I’ve been at it for a while now, this preparing.
Fixing and fussing and cleaning and rearranging
Trying to make my home perfect for Christmas
For the guests that I cannot wait to welcome in.
Inside this season of anticipation
Comes a quiet moment of reflection
How am I preparing my heart?
Is there room for Him?
I must prepare Him room, but how will I ever be ready?
And then, I remember.
Our Messiah is no longer far-off
Our Emmanuel is already with us.
I open the door.
He enters.
He listens with love as I admit
Fixing and fussing and striving
To rearrange and prepare my heart.
And then,
He repairs my heart.
He adorns His Spirit’s home with beauty,
He bestows me with extravagant grace.
He prepares me.
